Trauma therapy

Your past does not have to
shape every next step.

Telehealth throughout Florida | In-person care coming soon. You don’t have to tell everything all at once.

You may know that a difficult experience is over, yet still feel its effects in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, or body.

You might feel easily startled, struggle to relax, avoid certain situations, or find yourself shutting down when things become overwhelming. Sometimes the connection to the past is clear. Sometimes it takes time to understand.

At Renewed Mind, we walk alongside you as you make sense of what happened and how it has shaped your life. You can explore these experiences at a thoughtful pace, with room for healing and the possibilities ahead.

Trauma can affect how you move through everyday life.

You may notice:

  • Feeling on edge, even during ordinary moments.
  • Strong reactions that are difficult to understand or manage.
  • Memories or reminders that interrupt your day.
  • Difficulty trusting others or feeling close to them.
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or your emotions.
  • Shame, self-blame, or a persistent sense that something is wrong with you.

These experiences can have different causes. Together, we’ll explore what they mean in the context of your life.

Compassion for where you are. Hope for where you’re going.

Trauma therapy begins with getting to know you and understanding what support you need.

We may work on ways to feel more grounded, recognize what brings up distress, and respond to overwhelming emotions. As appropriate, we can also explore painful experiences and the meanings they have taken on.

You’ll have opportunities to ask questions, share concerns, and talk about the pace of our work. You don’t need to push through discomfort silently.

From familiar patterns toward greater freedom.

Our work may focus on helping you:

  • Recognize when past experiences are influencing the present.
  • Develop ways to manage distress.
  • Understand patterns of protection, avoidance, or disconnection.
  • Work through painful beliefs about yourself.
  • Build boundaries and relationships that support your well-being.

Your goals and treatment plan will reflect your individual needs. The work is about more than getting through the day: it can also make room for relationships, choices, and moments that feel meaningful to you.

EMDR & ART

Support for healing and moving forward.

Wendy is trained in EMDR and ART. Together, you’ll consider whether either approach is right for your care, with time for preparation, questions, and support.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps people process distressing memories. While briefly focusing on a memory, you are guided through back-and-forth eye movements or another form of alternating stimulation, such as tapping.

The aim is to reduce the emotional intensity connected to the experience, so it feels less overwhelming in the present. Preparation and coping skills are part of the process.

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) uses guided eye movements and visualization to work with distressing memories and sensations. With your therapist’s guidance, you imagine changing upsetting images into new images of your choosing.

The goal is to ease the distress connected to an experience, without changing your knowledge of what happened. You do not have to describe every detail aloud.

Your treatment plan is individual to you. Wendy will explain the process and discuss your readiness and preferences; results and the number of sessions vary.

There is room for a new beginning.

You don’t have to walk this path alone. Let’s talk about what you are carrying and the life you hope to reclaim.
